WeChat Ecosystem Enters the Asset Era: Key Takeaways from Tencent’s 2026 Business Growth Camp
On August 6, 2026, Tencent Marketing held the closing ceremony of its 2026 Business Growth Camp in Shanghai. More than 100 brands and service providers gathered to review half-year results inside the WeChat ecosystem. The event delivered a clear message: WeChat operations are officially moving beyond single-point traffic thinking.
The new focus is full-domain collaborative growth built on two core assets: user assets and content assets. This shift comes as public-domain traffic costs continue to rise and the market settles into stock competition. Brands that still treat WeChat as just another traffic channel risk falling behind. source 163
The Core Signal: From “Should We Enter?” to “How Do We Operate Efficiently?”
Tencent executives emphasized that the question is no longer whether brands should be on WeChat. The real challenge is building a repeatable system that turns short-term exposure into long-term controllable assets.
Luan Na, Vice President of Tencent, described WeChat’s advantage as a complete chain that connects public-domain exposure, social trust, and private-domain retention. Mini Stores handle immediate transactions. Mini Programs, WeCom, and sales-advisor systems keep operating members over time. Online and offline experiences are linked. The result is traffic that brands can actually own rather than rent.
This “slow simmer” approach is especially powerful for categories with high average order value, strong repurchase potential, or gift-giving attributes.
The New Operating System: “Three Rings, Four Forces”
To solve the common problem of scattered tactics across too many touchpoints, Tencent introduced a standardized model called “Three Rings, Four Forces” (三环四力).
The Three Rings cover the full customer journey:
- Operating Touchpoints Tencent mapped more than 130 touchpoints inside WeChat and distilled them down to 15 core operating positions. Brands no longer need to cover everything. They select and combine the ones that fit their industry and goals.
- E-commerce Operations This ring focuses on building solid livestream foundations (people, products, and scene), creating account matrices for stores, categories, and distribution, and using distinctive product assortments plus traffic to break through big campaigns.
- Commercial Flow Assistance Advertising is no longer just for acquiring new customers. Its role upgrades to amplifying already-proven operating models and helping brands accumulate long-term brand equity.
The Four Forces act as amplifiers underneath the rings:
- Product force
- Content force
- Placement force
- Brand force
Together they turn fragmented activities into a coherent growth system.
How Brands Are Already Applying It
One clear example shared at the event was Yan Zhi Wu (燕之屋), a premium bird’s nest brand. Its WeChat Mini Store GMV grew 26 percent, with average order value exceeding 1,400 RMB. Social fission contributed 13 percent of new volume.
The brand uses a deliberate split: Mini Store for instant gift-giving scenarios, Mini Program for deeper retention and membership operations. Data from both channels feeds into a unified user profile. Looking ahead, the company plans an “AI + nutrition advisor” model in which AI handles roughly 90 percent of standardized data analysis and content production, while human advisors focus on high-trust conversations. The goal is to own the “WeChat gift bird’s nest” category mindshare and build a private-domain barrier that is hard to copy.
This case illustrates the broader evolution many brands are going through: from pure public-domain traffic acquisition, to private-domain membership systems, and finally into social fission and trust-based growth.
Practical Guidance for the Second Half of 2026

Tencent outlined three practical questions every brand should answer for the rest of the year:
Where does traffic come from? Platform promotions, category seasonal moments, and brand-exclusive “Friend Days” create a spiral growth pattern rather than one-off spikes.
Where is the incremental volume? Build a layered distribution matrix: top KOLs for sales peaks, mid-tier creators for consistent brand content, and large numbers of KOCs plus affiliate partners for new audience expansion and stable daily sales.
How do we keep content flowing? Create a standardized short-video production system that combines internal teams with external KOCs. Test small batches, identify high-potential content, then amplify winning pieces through Mini Store incentives and paid traffic. The goal is two-way flow between short video and livestreams.
On the product side, Tencent is improving connectivity between Mini Stores, Mini Programs, and WeCom advisors, while adding more social fission tools. On the support side, it is offering operating calculation tools, full-process accompaniment, and resource matching for brands ready to commit to long-term capability building.
The Upcoming White Paper
At the end of August 2026, Tencent Marketing will release the WeChat Ecosystem Public-Private Domain Integrated Operation White Paper.
It draws on real data from the Growth Camp and nearly 10,000 user surveys.
The report will break down WeChat shopping user personas and provide standardized public-private domain operating paths.
For marketers planning second-half strategies, this document should become required reading.
What Marketers Should Do Next
The message from Shanghai is consistent and practical. In a high-cost public-domain environment, the brands that win will be those that treat WeChat as a long-term operating system rather than a media channel.
Start by auditing your current touchpoint coverage against the 15 core positions. Clarify which of the Three Rings need the most work in your category. Strengthen the connection between transaction (Mini Store) and relationship (Mini Program / WeCom). Measure success not only by short-term GMV but by the quality and depth of the user assets you are accumulating.
The WeChat ecosystem is no longer primarily about buying attention. It is about building assets that compound over time. Brands that grasp this shift early will find themselves with a structural advantage that pure traffic spending cannot easily match.
